The Third World Network (TWN), the South Centre and the Association for Plant Breeding for Benefit of Society (APBREBES) would like to invite you to a Panel Discussion on “Designing Sui Generis Plant Variety Protection System in Developing Countries and the Role of WIPO” to be held on 7th October 2016 (Friday), 1pm-3pm, WIPO New Building Room 0.107. Sandwich lunch will be provided.

This panel will critically discuss the relevance of UPOV to agricultural systems of developing countries and elaborate on options to develop plant variety protection systems appropriate for developing countries and that are consistent with FAO’s International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (the Plant Treaty), the CBD and the Nagoya Protocol.  It will also discuss WIPO’s technical assistance in the area of plant variety protection.
