Editorial This special issue of the APBREBES Updates on Plant Variety Protection is published on the occasion of the Sixth Meeting of the Governing Body of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. It points at a timely new publication by Third World Network (TWN) and Berne Declaration on the interrelations between ITPGRFA, WIPO and UPOV as far as Farmers' Rights are concerned. It also highlights the submission by several CSOs jointly with the Wageningen Genebank, and the message from 107 farmers' seed networks to the member governments of the Governing Body. 2. New Publication: International Contradictions on Farmers' Rights A new publication by Sangeeta Shashikant and Fran็ois Meienberg on International Contradictions on Farmers' Rights describes the interrelations between the International Treaty, its Article 9 on Farmers' Rights, and relevant instruments of UPOV and WIPO. 3. Submission to ITPGRFA on Article 9 (Farmers' Rights) by OXFAM, ANDES, CTDT, SEARICE and CGN-WUR The submission to the ITPGRFA by Oxfam (Netherlands), Asociaci๓n para la Naturaleza y el Desarrollo Sostenible (Asociaci๓n ANDES, Peru), Community Technology Development Trust (CTDT, Zimbabwe), Southeast Asia Regional Initiatives for Community Empowerment (SEARICE, Vietnam), Centre for Genetic Resources (Netherlands, Wageningen University and Research Centre, CGN-WUR) focuses on the knowledge, views, experiences and best practices on the implementation of Farmers’ Rights, as set up in Article 9 of the International Treaty. Message from Farmers’ Seeds Networks to Member Governments of the ITPGRFA GB06 Meeting in Rome 5-9 October 2015 107 farmers’ seeds networks are calling on governments to support their movement, based on the principles of Food Sovereignty. As long as the Treaty is not reformed to fully apply articles 5, 6 and 9, they will continue to create their own multilateral exchange system between peasants.
